"We moved to Hollywood about a year ago. Someone introduced me to Odeliyah who invited me with open arms to join Areyvut. I was amazed how all different types come together as a community. It's a really beautiful community center with so many different ways to connect, whether on a chat or in person with hundreds who are available to help with all questions, needs, or even just to tag along with on a daily activity. I'm so grateful to be a part of the Areyvut community."

"I have taken my son to Areyvut a few times. We're not regulars yet but I love going there with my son who has Down syndrome. He does not always interact with the other kids and sometimes just plays with the bunnies or a dog that comes, but he is always warmly welcomed and feels it.

I find Areyvut to be such a positive environment that fosters healthy learning and social interactions for parents too. It's in such a pretty, natural, outdoor setting where there is freedom to explore and connect with our surroundings. Areyvut is run by wise homeschooling parents that recognize all parents have something to offer and enrich their kids."

A Few Words About

OUR STORY

After moving from New York to Florida in 2019, Areyvut co-founder Odeliya Glaser found a strong online Jewish homeschool community in the South Florida region where she joined a weekly meetup at a farm in Broward County with co-founder Ahava McLaughlin that catered Jewish activities to preschool-aged kids. Areyvut was born out of the need to support children and their parents in a non-typical school within an alternative educational setting. Odeliya and her co-founder, Ahava, created a framework for regular programming to benefit all ages in the South Florida Jewish community.

Our program especially appeals to families who find that the traditional system of education does not work for them. Because of this, a lot of children have slipped through the cracks of the broader Jewish community. What many students need is a different type of environment, and what parents need is a supportive village and tribe.

Areyvut seeks to provide that sense of community. We believe the future is made of our budding individualism, creativity and entrepreneurship. There is no limit to what we can do as a community when we work together and show up for each other.

OUR PHILOSOPHY & VALUES

The Jewish value of Areyvut, mutual responsibility, comes from the Hebrew phrase “Kol yisrael arevim zeh bazeh,” which means that we are all responsible for one another.

One of Areyvut's core values is Tikkun Olam, Repairing the World. As it states in Pirkei Avot (Ethics of Our Fathers), “It is not your responsibility to finish the work [of perfecting the world], but neither are you free to desist from it” (2:22).

Tikkun Olam starts with the family and expands from there. It is not enough to fix the rest of the world and forget our responsibilities at home. If we focus our attention elsewhere, who will meet our children’s needs? We cannot lose sight of our family, friends and local Jewish community, and especially our children. Hence the need for supportive environments like Areyvut.

We believe that small actions can make a big difference in the community, and a collective approach can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team and volunteer families work tirelessly to contribute to this meaningful endeavor.
